Hello everyone…yes, I am still here. I know that it has been a long time since I have made an entry, but life has gotten in the way, as it often does. Homeschooling a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grader with a pre-schooler, active toddler, and special needs baby keeps me hopping. I feel so blessed to have them and they come first. But, with that said, I know that I owe you an update!

Soon I will be posting some new pictures and updates, but for today…how about something fun?  For you ladies out there, have you ever stopped to think about what the contents of your purse reveal about you? What they say about who you are, or what season of life you are in? This came to my mind when I was going through my purse the other day.

In my purse you may not find make-up, nail files, or mirrors. You may not find lotions or jewelry. There is nothing wrong with having those things, but right now in this part of my life you might find more in my purse that belongs to someone else than belongs to me!

Here are some of the things that I have in my purse: crayons (always!), a matchbox car, polly pocket dolls, baby wipes, pacifiers, cute coloring page gifts from my children, collected rocks, baby Tylenol, a Chuck E. Cheese ticket, special socks for my son’s foot brace, and a business card to a candy factory to call for a homeschool field-trip.

My purse says that I am a Mommy. I may not have much room for my stuff in there, but it is still full, just like my heart!

What is in your purse?

My children have a special tradition that they do with their Grandma every time that a new baby is born into our family. They bake “baby brownies”! All of the children from the oldest to the youngest get to help prepare and decorate brownies to be enjoyed when Mommy, Daddy, and the new baby come home from the hospital. This allows the children the chance to make wonderful memories with their Grandmother while she is caring for them, and teaches them that babies being born is something to celebrate and look forward to!

This is the third time that they have made “baby brownies”, and let me tell you, they keep on getting even tastier every time. After all, they are made with more and more love each time, as another little set of hands gets their turn to help!

Aprons on! Everyone is ready to get started!

Kassidy has got the right idea!

Kaitlyn adds some oil.

I know that it has been a while since I updated here. But I have a good reason. No, really, I have a GREAT reason!!

THIS is why I have been MIA for a little while:

Kolby Bradford was born on August 12th, 2008 at 5:51am!

He weighed 4 pounds and 15 ounces, and was 18 inches long.

Isn’t he just a sweetheart?

Everyone is just loving him and enjoying him so much!

Big sister Kaitlyn was the first sibling to hold him.

Next it was big brother Kyle’s turn.

Big sister Kourtney gets her chance.

Big sister Kassidy has been waiting patiently to hold her new brother.

Kory is a big brother now!

Welcome home baby Kolby!!! We love you!

Yesterday I posted an entry about what a blessing my family is to me. I would like to continue that theme with thoughts about my dear husband. Jayson and I have been married for almost 10 years, and we will celebrate our anniversary in June. I can say with all honesty that I love my husband more today than I did on the day that I married him. He has blessed me with amazing commitment and unfailing love. In a sea of men who are really just “guys” or “boys” at heart, the Lord sent me a real man who knows what it means to be a husband and a father. I thank God daily for him.

My husband can take one look at me and know that it is a good day to suggest we order in for dinner. My husband will go to great lengths to help me solve problems when I need him to, or just listen when I need to talk about a problem/issue. He often has the wisdom to know which I need at that moment! Now THAT is a gift.  My husband is a loving father and is SO helpful with the big and little things around the house. He knows that our children are blessings and is not afraid to say so. I prayed for the best…and I got it! What a faithful God we serve.

Don’t forget to tell your spouse how much you love them and what they mean to you. It may make the difference in their day!  I will leave you with some thoughts about marriage:

What greater thing is there

for two human souls to feel that

they are joined for life-

to strengthen each other in all labor,

to rest on each other in all sorrow,

to minister to each other in all pain.

George Eliot

The most important

ingredient in Christian marriage

is the grace of God. Grace brings us

together and holds us together.

We have lived and loved together

Through many changing years;

We have shared each other’s gladness

And wept each other’s tears.

Set me as a seal

upon your heart,…for love

is as strong as death.

–Song of Solomon 8:6

Faith goes up the stairs

that love has built and looks out the

window that hope has opened.

I LOVE my family. The husband and children that the Lord has given to me, I am so very thankful for. They are my world and they make every day special. In the busy times in a hurried life it is easy to just get caught up in what NEEDS to get done. I think that it is important to stop or slow down and enjoy one another whenever possible. A loving family is such a gift!

  1. My husband Jayson is a blessing. He works hard to provide for us, many days long hours. He can always make me laugh. He is very loyal and caring. He is a very involved father. From changing diapers, to reading books, to playing games, no task is too much! He is also quite a good cook.
  2. My daughter Kaitlyn is a blessing. She is our firstborn and will be 8 years old in just a couple of weeks. She is very helpful to me, and like a second mother to the little ones. She is sweet and sensitive and has a heart for other people’s feelings.
  3. My son Kyle is a blessing. He is our second child, and our first-born son. He is 6 years old. He has a strong sense of justice and cares deeply about what is right. He is also ever-ready to make me smile, and comes up with so many ways to entertain us and make us laugh.
  4. My daughter Kourtney is a blessing. She is our third child and she is 5 years old. She is our affectionate one, always ready with hugs and kisses. She has a heart that wishes to please whenever possible.
  5. My daughter Kassidy is a blessing. She is our fourth child and she is 2 1/2 years old. She loves it best when her whole family is all together, and misses anyone who cannot be there. Every day is new with her. We often joke that she has more personality in her pinky than most people have in their whole bodies!
  6. My son Kory is a blessing. He is our fifth child and he is 1 year old. He is a lovely, chubby, squirmy little ball of energy. He loves to be the center of attention, and he will steal your heart with his big blue eyes and his giant toothy grins.
  7. Our unborn child is a blessing. He/She will be our sixth child and is due in mid-August. This baby already blesses me with a few flutters of movement that I adore feeling, and with the joy of so much more to come.

So take the time to remember what is special to you about your loved ones, and be sure to let them know!

If you read my blog it is no secret that I highly value and love children and babies. They are bundles of joy, beautiful gifts from our Heavenly Father. All of them are blessings, meant to be nurtured and welcomed with all of our hearts. Here are some thoughts about our precious little ones to enjoy!

A baby is a blessing-

It’s a joy to watch it grow,

To see it’s little toothless smile

And count each tiny toe.

A baby is a blessing,

For it’s new life is bright and new;

Just by being here it gives

Our lives new purpose, too.

A baby is a blessing,

For when faith or hope is gone,

A baby clearly signifies

God’s wish that life go on.

This morning my 2 1/2 year old was playing with her plastic tea-set.
There is a large spoon, small spoon, and a matching fork in each “place setting” to go with the plates and cups. I was playing with her and all was well until I pretended to eat something off of the large spoon. This made her uncharacteristically VERY upset, and after I got her calmed down this is the conversation we had so I could figure out what the problem was.

Me: “Why can’t I eat off of the big spoon?”

Kassidy:”You can’t put the Daddy in your mouth!” (or pretend to either apparently)

Me: “What do you mean the Daddy?”

Kassidy: “See?” “Daddy…” holding up the big spoon, “Mommy…” holding up the fork, and “Baby!” holding up the small spoon.

Me: “Oh, I see!”

The utensils then proceeded to kiss each other and lay down for a nap. Who knew that silverware came in families instead of sets!

I just LOVE two-year olds! They are so sweet and so much fun. They get a bad reputation in society at large. I think they are great. Every day is new!
